bringing it all together

When I first started college, I was told that “what you get out of college is what you put into it.” Fast-forward four years, and here I am with days running from 9am to 9pm. Despite being so busy, I have found my undergraduate degree to be incredibly rewarding. I have not only developed my skills in my majors, Computer Science and Music Theory, but also undergone incredible growth as a student and as a person. I’ve also discovered numerous passions ranging from rocketry to cosplay. I’ve also gained more perspective on the world and the numerous challenges that different communities face in society today.

I’m also emerging from my undergrad with the identity of being a maker. Before college, I knew that I valued creativity, but with the technical skill sets that I have gained, I can confidently say that I enjoy making things and know how to make things. And these “things” I create certainly vary, stemming from a variety of imagined products - all of which bring me joy. As a maker, I will always be full of elaborate ideas of intricate projects, trying my best to create as many of them as I can in my free time. I now have skills in embedded systems, fabrication, and music that will expand the possibilities that stem from my creativity.

Now that I’m finished with my undergrad, my next steps are to pursue a graduate degree related to human-computer interaction. My research gives me purpose as a maker, allowing me to create new technologies to benefit various communities and improve people’s day-to-day lives. There are numerous barriers in society that prevent people from enjoying life to the fullest, and my mission is to help overcome these barriers through building new tools and technologies. Through what I have learned throughout my undergrad, I feel empowered to create change and make a positive impact on the world. And while doing so, I will also happily tinker with small passion projects that bring joy to myself, and hopefully others, too.
